hahah @ rubbery filler
WTF!
The original counterbore, by the way, was done with a conventional drill- as in, producing a tapered seat, rather than a flats seat for the bottom of the bolt head.
wow

its all mounted to iron square tube
if its a normal size kurt its at least half that
that shit is built like from when american didnt have a concept of limited resources
if its not 80 lbs its prob close
i just have this little china screwless vice
kinda like a giant toolmakers vice

heh
milling carbide with the taig, w00t
if i can make them for like $30, its not a big deal it would just learn me not to fuckup
yeah i have carpet im not going to be oil hardening any steel here
tho i guess i could do that shit at work
shit i would have to the machine lives there now duh
no i just meant the heating the shit up to red hot
yeah so i could have a normal living room/bedroom
like, hopefulling waking up to piles of aluminum or FR4 chips was just a phase
heh
naw
the vp brought up keeping my shit isolated before i did
i havent unpacked any tooling yet, its just hooked up
made sure the pc and the steppers were fine
and it has steel rails!

as awesome as it would be, the cost would prob make me cry
those carbide pyramids are like $12 i think
i want to try and get an indexible endmill that will fit in my 3/8 collet
so i can try cermet inserts
most of the 3/8" tool specs ive read are like, weak or for just side milling
hmm
yeah i never thought of that
single flute, not like i have to go nuts matching tolerances anyway
i can just buy the bar stock
yeah
thats why im surprised i never thought about it
just get a 3/8" hss drill blank and cut a mount and drill/tap the set screw
yeah for a fly cutter, im not trying to make that tho
life sucks moon

okay once, but i left the feed override at 200% from something else i was running like a cnc retard
also carbide is supposed to be okay to work with red hot as long as it has an edge
which likely wouldnt be very long =(
Posted by renesis at 18:03 | permalink | 0 comments
eh?
ive never burnt a PCB
not so much, isnt much load
like, drilling and routing
i burn the FR4 sometimes
yeah totally
like, the very tips of conical cutters wear because its cutting into the fiberglass
but i doubt coolant would help alot
id be willing to try it but i dont think its make a big diff
and this is in ref to 30 degree .005 tip tools, like, shorter cones with wider tips for ~.015 space trace stuff, i dont think it would make any diff
like once i break the very tips of the .005 pyramid cutters, i use them to do .012 and .016 space/trace and cant remember them ever breaking again

heh @ marebear
BlackMoon: hihi
(its ren, my friend turned the modem off when she was catsitting and tw gave away my ip so i cant get into my shell)
reza: higher feedrate, lower speeds
and coolant
dishsoap works awsome as acrylic lube/coolant
but its evil for your machine and fixtures metal bits
reza: then you feed faster
acrylic can be a bitch with hand tools
i once went through a sheet with a jigsaw, came out the other side and the cut piece was stuck to the big piece like i never cut it
