tecan: its better because its lighter
i think thermal transfer is comparable with copper, their expansion versus temp is different, but i don't remember which was more
its used in voice coils for lighter moving mass

oh, max operating temp is almost always dependent on the coil enamel type
but in the case of say cheap air coils, its prob the plastic bobbin
my guess is most coil places and engineers who order lots have spreadsheets or previous examples to get them close

15awg is kind of a weird one
tecan: so your DCR depends on coil length and gauge
and your inductance basically depends on coil length (because of coil dimensions)
then gauge, along with coil layers, core material, how close the winding, and ambient environment, determine operating temps
so basically, selecting wire gauge depends on all of the things
